Mistakes Like . . . 

Mistake: Doing a long juice fast to lose weight.

A long, drawn-out total juice fast for weight loss isn’t necessary. In fact, it can backfire. Individuals usually regain any weight loss (and then some,) when they return to eating meals, because they never learned how to properly fuel their body.

The truth is, you can lose just as much weight combining juicing with meals as you can with a total juice fast. And, when you end the fast or cleanse, you can maintain your weight loss because you have learned how to eat! 

Mistake: Drinking juice while ignoring the rest of your diet.

I'm a certified health coach and juice therapist who helps people harness the power of juicing, seasonal cleanses and a whole food, plant based lifestyle so they can lower their cholesterol and blood pressure naturally and achieve and maintain a healthy weight and avoid unnecessary pills and procedures.

I grew up as a BBQ eating Dr. Pepper drinking Texan. But now I'm a granola crunching, green juice sipping Coloradoan. I enjoy hiking and exploring the mountains with my husband in our Jeep, and taking our dog Sophie for long walks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Each week you'll receive a new menu with 7 different juice recipes. Although there may be similarities between juice recipes, each week is different.

The juice recipes use ingredients commonly found in most grocery stores. You will receive a convenient produce substitutions chart, so if there happens to be a fruit or vegetable on the menu that you cannot find, you'll know which fruits, leafy greens or vegetables are the best substitute.

The membership includes juice cleanse menus with varying levels - from total juice fasts to modified juice cleanses that include raw or cooked foods. You may take advantage of these menus if and when you choose. They are optional.

As a health coach, I find that full meal plans usually don't work for most people. Each person's preferences and time available to prep and cook differs greatly. My goal is to help you get that daily juice in and get more fruits and vegetables into your diet. You will receive 7 different juice recipes each week, and at least 3 new whole food, plant-based recipes to try. Put the ones you love into rotation, and build a new, healthy recipe playbook that works for you and your family.

I totally understand. That is why the menus include 3 whole food, plant-based recipes each week for you to try if you choose. Over time, you'll likely find more and more plant-based meals that you enjoy. The goal is to gradually increase the amount of whole plant foods in your diet - to the extent that you are willing - so that you can enjoy even more health benefits that juicing alone can deliver.

If you have type 1 diabetes, or are currently experiencing type 2 diabetes or gestational diabetes, you will need to modify some of the juice recipes to meet your needs. According to Dr. Cyrus Khambatta, author of Mastering Diabetes, green juices made from leafy greens and non-starchy vegetables are nutrient-dense additions to your diet and do not contain enough carbohydrate energy to have a significant impact on your blood glucose. Juices made from fruit or starchy foods like carrots or sweet potatoes should be limited because they contain a significant amount of glucose and no fiber, which can lead to blood glucose spikes in individuals with insulin resistance. The weekly juice menu includes a variety of recipes - some green, some with root vegetables, and some with fruit. You could select the juice recipes that meet your dietary needs, and double or triple the ingredients to make your daily juices. As always, check with your doctor before making any dietary changes. The whole food, plant-based recipes included each week are appropriate for someone with diabetes or insulin resistance. Many people find that they are able to reverse their type 2 diabetes with a low-fat whole food, plant-based diet.

Daily fresh juices are appropriate for most people, however there are some areas for caution. Please speak with your doctor as you would about any dietary changes. You can also check your medication package insert, or check it at drugs.com to find out if there are any foods that interfere with your medication. If you are on certain blood thinning medications, you may need to have your medication adjusted to match your new daily vitamin K intake from dark leafy greens and vegetables. If you are on a blood pressure lowering medication, a healthy whole food, plant-based diet can result in rapid health improvements and your blood pressure medication may need to be adjusted rather quickly. All menus are egg-free, meat-free and dairy-free. If you are allergic to a certain fruit, please use the Produce Substitution Chart for suitable substitutes. If you have a soy allergy, tree-nut allergy, peanut allergy or gluten allergy or intolerance, the plant-based recipes provide tasty alternatitive ingredients to meet your dietary needs.

You can cancel your membership at any time. You will retain any menus or resources that you have downloaded during the course of our membership, and you will no longer receive emails with membership menus or content.
